The house
My soon to be husband Tim and I moved in to our house Sept 24Th 2009. We bought the house from a very nice old lady. The inside of the house is well kept but very much out of date. It was built in 1969. The yard on the other hand was very over grown. All the gardens had bulbs in every one of the garden beds and I don't think any of them have been kept up for over 6 years. Along the east side of the back yard along our fence is a tree line and a lot of little black berry trees growing. Keep in mind I am sure that they were not planted by the previous owners but naturally popped up after years of neglect.
Right away I could see the potential in our new found home. I just didn't realize at the time how much time and work it was going to take to update this house.
The inside of our house had wall paper on every wall and Ugly blue stained carpet in much of the house. The upstairs bathroom was no better with and out of date shower/ bathtub sliding doors and carpeting. Over the winter we did a lot of the work in doors: Removing the wall paper, removing the trim/ base boards and ripping up the carpet. Now we just have to put on the finishing touches throughout most of the house. Unfortunately we still need to start on the bathroom and remove the wall paper from the kitchen.
The wedding
Tim and I got engaged July 5Th 2008. We decided to Buy a house in the winter of 2008 and put the wedding off until we had a house. After we moved in we decided we could save money if we had our reception in our backyard (this would also give us a bigger budget to update our home) we decided to have our wedding at the Como Zoo conservatory.
The reception is going to be in our back yard, no dinner is going to be held but rather have cocktails and h'orderves. The wedding party is going to wear Black cocktail dresses (of their choice) and Black suites with white shirts and black ties. We are going to have severs with black pants and white dress shirts, an open bar with a bartender and a tent with a dance floor and seating. I am trying to keep this wedding as low cost as possible so I have looked for help from friends whose profession applies, my friend Alan who is a chef, Anton who is a DJ, and a local bartender who bar tends at a bar that I go to every once and awhile. Also a friend of mine had gotten married last year and she had a friend named Max who baked her cake for cost and he was willing to give me the same deal (of course I will be giving him a little extra money for his time).
Now that you know the back story we can now start on the projects we will embark on together for the next 100 Days.
I have never kept a blog so we will have to see how I do on this. I will also be posting pictures and videos of my days.
